Vidrala’s Lightest Bordeaux Bottle

Vidrala’s BD NOVA LITE stands out for offering a weight reduction of almost 8% compared to predecessor bottles.

Vidrala has presented the lightest Bordeaux wine bottle on the market at 300mm high, weighing 360 grams. This bottle represents a significant milestone in innovation and sustainability for the wine industry. The BD NOVA LITE stands out for being unique in the market, offering a weight reduction of almost 8% compared to the predecessor bottles in the same height range. The innovation lies not only in its design, but also in the industrial ability to maintain product quality and availability, which will entail significant savings for Vidrala 's customers.

The new bottle is now available in two colours, white and moss/Eurogreen. In addition, it will have two mouth options: traditional cork and screw mouth. This new bottle is the result of years of development and coordination of different areas of the company, as well as a significant milestone in terms of innovation and design, since it uses advanced press-blow moulding technology, which guarantees efficiency and quality in each unit.

For every million bottles, it will save approximately 31 tonnes of raw materials, avoid the emission of up to 7 tonnes of greenhouse gases (scope 1 + 2), the approximate equivalent of the emission of 72 diesel vehicles travelling the Madrid–Barcelona distance. It is expected to manufacture and sell hundreds of millions of this new bottle.

Ricardo Gallego Boix, commercial director of Vidrala in Spain, explained: "The decision to launch BD NOVA LITE reflects Vidrala's commitment to innovation, sustainability and focus on our customers. We believe that glass packaging can play a critical role in creating a better world, this new design is a tangible example of our "Glass Made Good" sustainability strategy.”
