Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Verallia Group since 2017, Michel Giannuzzi was recently elected President of FEVE, the European Container Glass Federation. Representing 60 corporate members belonging to approximately 20 independent corporate groups with manufacturing plants located across 23 European States, Mr Giannuzzi outlined FEVE’s objectives to Glass Worldwide, preferred journal of FEVE, as well as describing prevailing market conditions in Europe. Over 100 leading names from across the UK glass industry and supply chain, academia as well as local and national government, attended the Glass Futures Industry Conference at the Totally Wicked Rugby League Stadium in St Helens, Merseyside this July. On behalf of fellow Glass Futures advisory board member Ludovic Valette, Dave Dalton delivered the following speech entitled ‘Global industry and the future’. According to Bertrand Mercier, an even more comprehensive quality inspection is now available in float glass production, including coating inspection, detection of low-contrast optical lines and improved core size accuracy. The inspection possibilities are the latest additions to a proven range, further boosting the effectiveness of fully automatic optical quality assurance, while numerous system enhancements are also available for existing systems.
