IRIS sponsors International Year of Glass to highlight industry innovation

The UN’s International Year of Glass has secured sponsorship of its Opening Conference in Geneva on 9 and 10 February from inspection specialist IRIS.

Jean-Luc Logel, CEO of IRIS says, “We are proud to support this landmark event which celebrates the essential role glass plays in the health of humanity and the environment and coincides with the 20th anniversary of IRIS’s foundation.”

The International Year of Glass (IYOG) will see thousands of activities dedicated to glass, from conferences and seminars to educational work and public information campaigns.

Innovation is a key focus to the UN, the organisers and for IRIS, where nearly one third of the workforce is involved in research and development. After years of experimentation and hard work in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning, IRIS is close to unveiling a new era for glass inspection.

In addition to its participation in the IYOG opening conference at the Palace of Nations, IRIS intends to contribute to many of the exciting events planned throughout the year.

In 2019, Professor Alicia Durán, Chair of IYOG 2022 was recognised as the “Glass Person of the Year” by the prestigious Phoenix Award Committee, chaired by Jean-Luc Logel.
