Latest investment in casting automation

Franklin Bronze Precision Components has introduced the next generation of automation upgrades for its shell room.

The investment casting company has been at the forefront of automation since introducing robots to its manufacturing processes in early 2005 and continues to stay ahead via its latest introduction of robotic technologies.

This year, Franklin Bronze has upgraded the robotic arm and supervisory system in Shell Room 2. Installed by Shell-O-Matic Inc, the robot arm was replaced with a state-of-the-art system.

Additionally, the SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) system, the operating platform, was upgraded to the latest version available.

The upgrade allows for unlimited future growth and flexibility of Franklin Bronze’s investment cast shell room processes.

The operating system provides more accurate identification of moulds and parts with less manual manipulation, essentially allowing for quality protection of products during the production process.

Via this investment, Franklin Bronze implements Industry 4.0 technology with the installation of first of its kind automatic laser level adjustment, a pioneering technique to robots and automated investment casting foundries.
