SIGMA invests in production capacity

Italian refractory supplier SIGMA has announced a new campaign of investments in both its plants in Italy and Bulgaria.

The goal is to increase both flexibility and production capacity to offer better services to its Italian and worldwide customers.

The site in Plovdiv, Bulgaria has been recently expanded by 6000sqm.

Two new controlled atmosphere shuttle kilns and dryers have been installed to fire refractory materials up to 1600°C.

New multi-axis CNC machines have also been installed for finishing and grinding of refractory products. Some specific operations are robot-assisted to ensure repeatability, precision and high speed in execution.

Thanks to this expansion, SIGMA will increase its production capacity of vibro-cast material by 4000 tons/year.

This is the first step of an investment programme including four furnaces, which will enable SIGMA to offer a considerable increase in production capacity once the scheme is in place.
