Stoelzle joins forces in ZeroCO2Glas project

In 2020 Stoelzle joined forces with the German research association International Partners in Glass Research.

Sustainability has been a major issue for the company, and significant investments have been made in R&D, technologies and processes throughout all production and decoration sites in order to achieve important targets in the field of energy reduction and to boost eco-friendly processes and technologies.

Therefore, participating in the ZeroCO2Glas has been a great honour for Stoelzle.

The overall goal of the ZeroCO2Glas project is to use an all-encompassing approach to develop a revolutionary glass melting process in connection with a new type of CO2-neutral and energy saving glass melting furnace.

Şişecam lays the foundation of glass packaging facility in Hungary

Şişecam has broken the ground for its €255 million greenfield glass packaging facility in Kaposvar, Hungary.

The facility is Şişecam's first glass packaging production site in Europe and will bring the company’s quality glass packaging products closer to the European market.

The ground breaking ceremony was attended by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, Kaposvar MP Attila Gelencsér, Kaposvar Mayor Károly Szita, Şişecam Chairman Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman and Şişecam CEO Görkem Elverici.

Science Based Target initiative validates Verallia Group’s CO2 reduction targets

Verallia has announced that the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) has validated its CO2 reduction targets.

Already positioned as the most ambitious player in its sector in terms of environmental policy, Verallia becomes the first glass packaging producer to commit to the most ambitious target of limiting global warming to +1.5°C compared to pre-industrial temperatures, in line with the recommendations of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the Paris Climate Agreement.

Stoelzle Masnières Parfumerie SAS signatures

Belgian designer Dries Van Noten unveiled his beauty collection of perfumes and make-up during the presentation of his womenswear fall-winter collection at the Paris Fashion Week.

Mr Van Noten joined the PUIG Group in 2018, teaming up with eleven leading international perfumers that interpreted different aspects of the brand’s unexpected olfactive universe.

He has therefore expressed his creative and artisanal vision in a contradictory, rule-breaking genderless collection of ten eaux de parfum.

The brand entrusted Stoelzle Masnières with the exclusive production of both the 100ml glass bottles and the decoration of these refillable bottles which like the world of Dries Van Noten, are full of striking visual statements.

UK–India Lab2Lab Collaboration – 25 March

The UK–India Lab to Lab Collaboration Project led by Glass Futures is building a network to make a decisive shift towards sustainable manufacturing.

Interested parties are invited to join the final webinar on 25 March 2022 that will report on over 100 hours of dialogue with influencers in Indian industry and academia, and will be joined by key funding and policy influencers from both countries.

Glass Futures, through collaborative engagements with respective and relevant stakeholders within the glass industry and its supply chain, and its UKRI government funded UK-India Lab-to-Lab Collaborative Project, have captured some of the high-level, broad-based sustainability challenges that the glass industry faces across the entire end-to-end process.

Evolution is the key for IRIS partnership with Mexican glassmaker

Mexican glass manufacturer Vidrio Formas, is reaping the benefits of its nine-year partnership with IRIS through a major upgrade and expansion of its inspection facilities in 2022.

Vidrio Formas has recently installed four new machines at its greenfield production plant in Lerma and has four more on order for the next two production lines.

By the end of 2022, the company will be operating 22 IRIS inspection machines across all its production facilities.

IRIS is retrofitting the customer’s first machine, installed in 2013 with new hardware and the latest NEO intelligent software systems.

This is the first step in a scheduled programme of upgrades across all Vidrio Formas machines.

Saint-Gobain invests €120 million in new glass wool capacity in France

Saint-Gobain, through its insulation subsidiary ISOVER, is investing €120 million to increase its insulation production capacity in France and support the acceleration of the energy renovation market.

These investments will involve both increasing the capacity of existing ISOVER production lines and creating a new line.

ISOVER has three glass wool plants in France, located in Chalon-sur-Saône, Chemillé and Orange. By 2025, in response to very strong demand driven by energy renovation, Saint-Gobain will bring to the French market more than 70,000 additional tons of glass wool insulation, which will enable the equivalent of 100,000 additional homes to be renovated each year.

SCHOTT and Hungarian government invest in cutting-edge syringe production

A €76 million investment at SCHOTT’s existing site in Lukácsháza, Hungary is designed to meet the growing global demand for prefillable syringes made of glass.

The company is planning to build an entirely new production line for high-quality prefillable glass syringes (PFS).

The added capacity will greatly benefit the global market and strengthen supply security for major pharmaceutical companies and contract manufacturing organizations,” said Andreas Reisse, Executive Vice President of SCHOTT’s Pharma business unit.

The double-digit million Euro amount is supported by the local government with about €9 million.

The expansion is scheduled for completion in 2024 and is designed to create 120 new jobs.
