Berlin Packaging acquires United Bottles & Packaging

Berlin Packaging has acquired United Bottles & Packaging, a Canadian-based distributor of high-quality glass bottles and closures for the food and beverage end markets.

Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Quebec, United Bottles & Packaging supplies bottles and closures for alcoholic beverages such as wine, spirits, beer and cider, in addition to a wide selection of bottles and closures for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

Known for its fast-from-stock inventory, United Bottles & Packaging also offers customers a suite of value-added services such as custom shapes and moulds, warehousing and logistics, case-packed pallets, and customized boxes and caps.

USDA-RD State Director announces $3 million investment with Mafic USA

Mafic USA will use a $3 million USDA Business and Industry Loan to finance the purchase of equipment to expand the capacity of its Shelby facility.

This investment reflects recent remarks by President Joe Biden in his State of the Union address when he spoke of the value of American made products.

There’s something happening in America,” said President Biden “The rebirth of the pride that comes from stamping products ‘Made In America.’ The revitalization of American manufacturing.”

Rural Development State Director Reginald Speight was joined by Brett McMahon, Member of Board of Directors; Kevin McDonald, Chairman of the Board from Mafic USA, along with federal and local officials.

Vidrala commits to 12MW renewable power installation at Caudete plant

Vidrala is building a solar photovoltaic power generation plant that will be used for consumption in the industrial process, partially substituting fossil and electrical energy from the grid.

The facility will be located at the Crisnova plant in Caudete, Castilla La Mancha, and will have a capacity of 12MW using cutting-edge ground-based technology.

The project is part of the company's sustainability and energy efficiency strategy and is a clear demonstration of its commitment to the environment and to the communities where the group operates.

Engineering, technical and economic viability work, urban planning, administrative and environmental procedures, as well as the engineering project were carried out by Vidrala under the guidance of Norvento Enerxía.

Two Drifters Distillery pride themselves on being the perfect blend of rum, science and innovation from their base in Devon.

With a unique flair for sustainability and a constant desire to improve, the not even three-year-old distillery works on a unique philosophy that they tax themselves on carbon.

Looking to create as little carbon as possible and work with carbon removal company Climeworks to capture and bury unavoidable emission release. To match such a strong sustainability ethos, the company required packaging that would live up to it.

Allied’s extensive experience and expertise in sustainable glass production made them the ideal candidate to produce a new bottle for Two Drifters.

Vidrala commits to future of glass with Glass Hallmark

Vidrala is one of the first packagers to make use of FEVE’s new Glass Hallmark on its bottles.

The symbol was created by the European Container Glass Federation to champion the benefits of glass and to encourage better recycling levels across the continent.

Through its Encirc plant in Derrylin Northern Ireland, Vidrala has been able to emboss its 75cl BD glass bottles with the seal.

By communicating the infinitely recyclable and reusable nature of glass on the bottles themselves, the Glass Hallmark symbolises a commitment to create a sustainable future using glass.

This aligns closely with Vidrala’s Glass Made Good sustainability strategy.

FEVE has set its sights on Europe achieving a 90% container glass recycling rate by 2030.

Lippert Components books €9 million order with Glaston

Glaston Group has closed a deal for five automotive pre-processing lines and a heat treatment line with US-based Lippert Components Inc., an industry-leading manufacturer, and supplier to the recreational vehicle, marine, power sports, and mass transit markets.

The order is valued at approximately €9 million for delivery during the fourth quarter of 2022.

Lippert Components wanted a more advanced and automated solution for increased throughput, improved quality and limited handling to load and unload the finished product for the growing recreational vehicle market.

With the new equipment, the customer is also able to get rid of manual edging operations which result in improved edge and tempering quality.

Vetropack's Kyiv glass works severely damaged by military activity

The Ukrainian production site of Vetropack Holding Ltd, one of the leading manufacturers of glass packaging in Europe, severely damaged during military activity. No employees were injured.

Vetropack had already begun shutting down production at the Ukrainian glass works, PrJSC Vetropack Gostomel in Kyiv, for security reasons on 24 February 2022.

All employees are suspended temporarily from their duties on full pay.
