‘Glass Protects’ Indian schools competition winners confirmed

To commemorate International Youth Day, The All India Glass Manufacturers’ Federation invited online entries from children between seven and sixteen to participate in the ‘Drawing Competition 3.0’ on the theme ‘Glass Protects’. Former AIGMF Presidents, Sanjay Somany, Sanjay Ganjoo and S C Bansal subsequently judged the top three drawings from the 3000 entries received from schools across India.

First prize was awarded to Tanuj Samaddar, aged 15, 10th class student of SERS Public School (District Kamrup), Assam. Second prize went to Priyal Singh, aged 13, 8th class student of Global City International School, Bangalore, while the winner of the third prize was S Christy Laura aged 14, 9th class student of Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya, (Trichy) Tamil Nadu.

The formal award ceremony will be held in parallel with the AIGMF’s virtual Annual General Meeting on 15 September, where an online exhibition of selected drawings will also be unveiled to form part of a touring exhibition on the ‘Glass Protects’ theme.

As the national apex body of the glass industry, the AIGMF undertakes socially responsible steps as a voluntary service to society, thereby bringing increased awareness of glass being a safe and 100% recyclable packaging and building material” commented Sanjay Somany, Chairman and Managing Director, HNG and Inds Ltd.

Sanjay Ganjoo, Chief Operating Officer, Asahi India Glass Ltd, added: “Under these challenging circumstances the All India Glass Manufacturers’ Federation takes responsibility to work on the safeguarding of human kind by bringing young children together through a drawing competition for awareness about what glass can do to keep us safe from the current (Covid-9) pandemic. We at AIGMF will continue to work on the use of glass for the safety of human beings as our core responsibility.”

Some very good drawings were received from students across India and judging the winners was not that easy” Mr S C Bansal, Managing Director, Adarsh Kanch Udyog Pvt Ltd confirmed . “I am sure everyone will appreciate the artwork when it becomes a part of an online exhibition.
