€60 million for Brazil container plant expansion

Verallia has confirmed an investment of €60 million to build a second furnace at the group’s Jacutinga glass container plant in Brazil.

This investment more than doubles the Minas Gerais plant production capacity, from one million bottles/day to 2.3 million from 2023, when the furnace is running at full capacity.

The expansion in focused on meeting increased local demand in the beer and alcoholic segments with amber and green bottles.

Increasing our productive capacity was already in the plans” Quintin Testa, General Director for South America explained. “Verallia is a very solid company in Brazil and globally, which invests over the long term. We waited for the right moment, even considering the market conditions and contracts with our customers.”

Inaugurated in July 2019, the Jacutinga plant features state-of-the-art technology, allowing it to respond to quality and growth demands in the future.

Verallia installed a latest generation electrostatic precipitator and a modern, closed circuit domestic and industrial effluent treatment plant. All effluents treated in this system are reused internally, without external disposal.

In addition to Jacutinga, Verallia maintains Brazil operations in Porto Ferreira (SP) and Campo Bom (RS) and a Creation Center for new products development in Sao Paulo.
