Burgos modernisation completed

Verallia has inaugurated a €33 million investment at its Burgos plant in Spain. Following reconstruction, the furnace is now one of the largest in Europe. By combining the capacities of its two furnaces, the plant now produces 600 million glass bottles each year, mainly for wine and spirits.

As well as increasing production capacity by 40,000 bottles, the latest investment makes the factory more flexible. The seven production lines are capable of simultaneously manufacturing up to eight different models, standard or customised.

This makes it possible to offer "more quickly, tailor-made solutions to our customers" commented Paulo Pinto, General Manager of Verallia in Spain and Portugal at a recent celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Burgos plant.

The latest technologies and materials have been used in the reconstruction to improve the plant's energy efficiency and environmental impact.

This contributes to reducing fossil fuel consumption and minimising CO2 emissions, in line with Verallia's environmental commitments. These renovations also improve the ergonomics and safety of the Burgos plant and the working conditions of employees.
