Expert training sessions for the glass industry

CelSian Glass & Solar BV is planning three expert training sessions in early 2019, starting with a two day introduction to glass melting, scheduled for 16-17 January at the Wentbridge House Hotel in Wentbridge, West Yorkshire, UK. The target audience for this training session includes employees of glass producing companies and suppliers to the glass industry who require a general overview of the most relevant processes and challenges (emissions and energy reduction, preserving furnace lifetime and batch cost reduction) without the need the have an in-depth understanding of these topics.

A second two day expert training session takes place in Manchester, UK on 13-14 March and is dedicated to understanding (the link between) redox, fining and glass quality. This course provides a fundamental understanding of glass (melt) redox state and the impact of redox state on heat transfer, fining, foaming, glass defects (bubbles) and glass colour. Moreover, it also presents ways to control redox state by means of batch modifications and changes to furnace operational settings. The target audience for this training session includes batch and furnace managers and glass technologists.

A third course is fully dedicated to ‘advanced combustion and emissions’ and will be held on 15-16 May 2019 at the CelSian premises in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Topics addressed at this expert training session include combustion (air and oxygen firing), burner technology, combustion control including required sensors, NOx emission formation, regulation and control. This session is also aiming at batch and furnace managers and glass technologists.
