Vitro planning flat and container plants in Egypt

The official Facebook page for the Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reports on his meeting with Counsellor Mohamed Abdel-Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, to follow up on a number of projects that are being implemented, and the Authority's efforts to promote promising investment opportunities in the country.

Counsellor Abdel-Wahab had met with Mr Jose Octavio, Ambassador of the State of Mexico in Cairo, in the presence of Mr Adrián Sada, CEO of Vitro, a prominent global glass manufacturer and the largest producer in North America, pointing out that the meeting dealt with discussion new investments by the Mexican company in Egypt.

Vitro is planning to build two factories in Egypt with around $400 million in investments. A factory for manufacturing flat glass will be set up on a site spanning 350,000 m2. Another factory will be built on a 150,000 m2 plot of land will be used for the production of containers. The company will look to export most of its output from the factories. Both factories will be established as per the free zones system, and they will offer about 1,500 new jobs.
