Expanding opportunities for chain manufacture

When a business reaches a certain point of success, it often comes to a crucial decision – to continue operations in the same facility or relocate to a larger one. Our business has been in operation for 55 years, constantly expanding its services, client base and staff. Our old facility was in a quiet residential area, but we eventually outgrew it as we began producing more and expanding our client base. It became increasingly difficult to accommodate our growing workforce, equipment and inventory and we needed a facility that could meet all of our needs and allow us to grow even further.

After careful evaluation of our options, we decided to relocate to a facility that was 50% larger than our previous one. This was a major decision that involved a lot of planning, preparation and execution. We had to consider factors such as location, accessibility, construction costs, and more. It took several months of research and negotiations before we found the perfect facility that met all of our requirements.

The relocation process was a challenge, but we were well-prepared for it. We created a detailed relocation plan that included timelines, budgets, logistics and contingencies. We also communicated extensively with our staff, clients, vendors, and partners to ensure a smooth transition. The actual move took several weeks, during which we had to carefully pack, transport, and unpack all of our equipment, inventory and furniture.

Relocation benefits

The benefits of relocating to a larger facility have already started to pay off. Here are some of the most notable advantages we’ve experienced so far:

Increased capacity:
Our new facility is 50% larger than our old one, which means we now have more room to accommodate our growing workforce, equipment and inventory. We’ve added more workstations, storage areas and meeting rooms, which has improved productivity and efficiency. We’ve also been able to invest in new equipment and technology that we couldn’t have accommodated in our old facility.

Improved workflow:
Our new facility has been designed to optimise our workflow and communication. We’ve created dedicated areas for different departments, which has reduced noise and distractions.

Expansion opportunities:
Moving into a larger facility has allowed us to explore new growth opportunities. We’re now able to stock more products, expand our services, and reach new markets. We’ve already seen an increase in demand for our services since relocating, which has motivated us to continue to innovate and improve.

Overall, relocating to a larger facility has been a transformative experience for our business. It has allowed us to overcome the limitations of our old facility and take our operations to the next level. We’ve invested in infrastructure, equipment, and personnel that will help us grow and succeed in the years to come.

Robust products

Relocating to a larger facility has been a bold move for our business, but one that has paid off. We’re proud of our new facility, and we’re excited about the possibilities it presents us. We look forward to continuing to serve our clients in a modern, efficient, and innovative environment.

We focussed on continuing to manufacture our chains and sprockets whilst moving to the newer site, and this allowed for a near-seamless transition that we hope caused minimal disruption to our customers and partners.

The laser welding machine that produces our CALIBRE 2-pin chain, and the gear hobbing machines that allow us to produce our involute tooth sprockets all suffered minimal disruption and we continued to produce our best-performing chain that can withstand the most difficult of production environments.

New logo

In addition to our new premises, Pennine has chosen to give our longstanding logo a new cleaner, modern look. The old logo, recognised by customers, partners and suppliers from around the globe, has been replaced with a much cleaner, slicker logo that has a modern look, more befitting a company that has decided to move forward with every other aspect of itself.

In all, Pennine’s move to bigger premises shows a strong commitment to the future of the business, the company’s commitment to the glass industry, and our commitment to providing the highest possible standard of chain through continuous investment and development of our goods and manufacturing techniques.
