Şişecam is investing in a patterned glass furnace with a capacity of 600tpd and energy glass processing lines with annual capacity of 20 million m2. The global player has one patterned glass and eight flat glass lines at four locations in Turkey is adding further capacity in Mersin.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman, Şişecam Chairman and Executive Member of the Board, stated: "We continue to create value for Turkey despite today's extraordinary economic conditions. While energy costs are on the rise, declining costs of electricity generation from solar energy and growing awareness of sustainability globally offer new opportunities in the patterned glass and energy glass markets. In line with our strategic priorities and sustainability focus, we decided to invest in a new patterned glass furnace and processing lines on the same site in Mersin where we are constructing a new flat glass line. This new investment will allow us to capitalize on opportunities that arise in the rapidly growing global solar energy market and in Turkey. The Mersin investment will contribute to the country's economy as well as Şişecam's strategy of producing sustainable value-added products. Once it reaches full capacity, the new Mersin investment is expected to generate annual sales revenue of EUR 120 million."
