AFGM’s ASEAN Glass Conference underway

With Glass Worldwide as official journal, the 44th ASEAN Glass Conference is underway in Pattaya, Thailand, hosted by the Glass Manufacturers Industry Club, The Federation of Thai Industries (GMFTI).

Following a golf tournament and cocktail reception, Harris Hendraka (AFGM Chairman), Jariya Sangchaiya (GMFTI Chair), Somporn Temudomsomboon (Chair of the conference organising committee) and Piti Srisangnam (keynote speaker and Associate Professor in Economics from Chulalongkorn University) addressed over 300 delegates at a grand welcome ceremony.

Technical sessions will follow under the event’s ‘Glass: Sustainable World Solutions’ theme, with presentations including:

  • Regenerative burner low NOx mechanism and application (ATS / Anderson Thermal Solutions (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.).
  • Decarbonisation through process electrification and digitalisation (Eurotherm).
  • GlassFORM.ai: a joint venture to master the glass forming process through artificial intelligence (Bottero/TIAMA).
  • Improving energy efficiency of oxy-fuel glass furnaces (Linde).
  • More sustainable glass production by increasing the electric power (HORN Glass Industries).
  • New melting technologies require updated monitoring methods (PaneraTech).
  • All-electric melting: Recent developments and improved understanding (Fives).
  • Climate protection: the total recovery glass furnace and the LIFE SUGAR project (Stara Glass).
  • Sustainable solutions for a greener and more energy efficient glass industry (BIG).

Papers from the conference will be exclusively reproduced in 2023 issues of Glass Worldwide. For the first time, the ASEAN Glass Conference also features a poster session showcasing industrial practitioners, sponsored by IYOG 2022.
