Since the early 1970s, Corning has contributed to Korea’s growth by helping shape the country’s technology landscape, delivering innovations across display technologies, mobile consumer electronics, automotive, fibre-optic communications, biotechnology and more. The company has collaborated with its Korean customers to propel display and cover glass technologies forward, making possible advancements like LCD and OLED televisions, monitors, laptops, tablets and mobile phones.

The company plans to continue investing in developing advanced materials and expanding manufacturing capabilities. In Asan, Corning Precision Materials recently established a next-generation production line and the world’s first fully integrated supply chain for ultra-thin bendable glass.

Our latest innovations will enable advanced mobile device designs and automotive displays, making Korea a hub for ultra-thin bendable glass manufacturing,” said Wendell P. Weeks, Corning’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Korea’s commitment to high-tech growth, talented people, and supportive government have accelerated Corning’s collaboration with our valued Korean customers and partners like Samsung.”

Samsung’s relationship with Corning began in 1973, a joint venture to create affordable televisions for the region. Samsung leaders praised the continuing impact of the companies’ combined powers.

"Corning's friendship and partnership has been one of the most important stepping stones that helped Samsung to become a truly global company that is driving multiple enabling innovations," said Jay Y. Lee, Executive Chairman of Samsung Electronics. "Thanks to the special trust we have nurtured, we will work together continually to pioneer technologies that today seem just dreams, but that tomorrow will be the realities that help humanity to overcome its challenges and realize its potential.,"
