Organised by Glass Service, the 15th International Seminar on Furnace Design – Operation and Process Simulation, was successfully staged in Velke Karlovice, Czech Republic recently. The event was attended by some 150 international glass experts from 25 countries, including representatives from the USA, Mexico, Japan, India, Saudi Arabia, Russia, New Zealand and several European nations.

Held in conjunction with the seminar were the latest ICG Technical Committee 15 and 21 and GS Glass Furnace Model (GFM) user meetings. The 7th GS Modeling Award was presented

to Bruno Purnode of Owens Corning. The recipient has made a significant contribution to the use of simulation tools within his company and via conferences worldwide.
