Innovations In Flat Glass Recycling In The Netherlands

From recycling to reuse – the Circular Glass network attracted 120 interested parties in The Netherlands.

More than 120 interested parties attended the Circular Glass network meeting led by the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) and in collaboration with Koninklijk Bouwend Nederland Vakgroep GLAS. Intensive research has been carried out for two years into the innovative reuse possibilities of insulating glass. During this network meeting, the promising results of this research were presented and the partners in the field shared their experience with the reuse of flat glass.

An important feature of this initiative is the role of Vakgroep GLAS and Vlakglas Recycling Nederland, who have been pioneering with their successful EPR system for more than 20 years. Every year, more than 85,000 tonnes of flat glass waste is collected and recycled. With the Circular Glass project, the next big step is being taken: from recycling to reuse.

In this project, AUAS and Bouwend Nederland Vakgroep GLAS are working together with members GSF Glasgroep, Glasindustrie Ben Evers, La Paloma Glasindustie, Hermans Groep and Jargo Glas, marking a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to promote sustainable innovations in the glass industry.
