Partners investing in the circular economy
Together with joint venture partners Zignago and Verallia, Ardagh Glass have continually invested to increase the processing capacity at the glass recycling facility, Vetreco S.r.l. in Supino, Southern Italy.
In addition to the increased capacity, the quality of the cullet supplied has been improved. The Vetreco facility can process 370,000tonne of cullet per annum making it one of the largest glass recycling facilities in the world.
When it first opened in 2013, the collection rate of waste glass in Southern Italy was 16kg per capita compared to 40kg per capita in the North.
As a result of the increased glass recycling capability, the rate is now 32kg per capita.
