Recresco signs five-year supply deal with Encirc

Glass recycling company Recresco has secured a five-year deal to supply Encirc, a leading glass bottle manufacturer and filler, with high quality glass cullet for remelt.

Under the deal, processed glass from Recresco’s state of the art Ellesmere Port facility will serve Encirc for the manufacture of new glass bottles and containers at its site in Elton, Cheshire.

The contract will safeguard exiting jobs at Recresco and Encirc while supporting the wider local economy.

Both companies are firmly embedded in the North West region having invested heavily in their respective Cheshire based facilities in recent years.

Significant upgrades in machinery and equipment were undertaken at Recresco’s Ellesmere Port site following the company’s multi-million-pound purchase of the land from Peel Ports in 2020.

Encirc has invested heavily in boosting its manufacturing capacity at its Elton facility and has proudly installed an industrial furnace capable of processing up to 900 tonnes of container glass per day, the largest of its kind in the world.

The proximity of the two businesses also aligns with their strong commitment to reducing environmental footprint and cutting transportation times.

Recresco Director, Tim Gent: “Glass is a uniquely sustainable material being infinitely recyclable with no loss of quality. At Recresco, we endeavour to drive as much glass as possible into remelt, its most sustainable use. We are firmly committed to reducing the environmental impact of our business and keeping glass out of landfill. We know that by working with Encirc, our product will be manufactured back into glass bottles and containers in the most energy efficient way."

"We are proud to work with businesses that demonstrate similar values to our own. Limiting our environmental impact and working with local businesses to support the regions where we operate are very important to us as a business and Encirc perfectly complements these principles.”

Brian Harrison, Purchasing Manager at Encirc: “At Encirc we work hard to operate sustainably and minimise the environmental effects of our manufacturing processes. By working with local businesses that share this goal, we are helping to reduce our carbon footprint while supporting the local economy."

We have worked with Recresco over many years and have been continually impressed with its innovative approach to waste management and glass processing."

We are extremely proud of our position as the most sustainable manufacturer in the glass industry and look forward to continuing our positive working relationship with Recresco over the next five years.
