Solar power plant installation

Slovenian hollow glass production specialist, Steklarna Hrastnik has commissioned a solar power plant as part of an initiative to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. The plant will generate electricity for the production of high purity hydrogen, which in turn will be used on a pilot glass melting furnace to reduce CO2 emissions.

"Last year, we began developing an innovative technology with our partner RCeNeM that aims to reduce the consumption of natural gas as an energy source for the melting of glass, which will in turn significantly reduce the CO2 footprint in the environment” explained Peter Čas, General Director of Steklarna Hrastnik. “Installation of the solar power plant is an important step towards the realisation of this technology."
