Vetropack Croatia Joins KOER Power System

Vetropack Straža has joined the operation of the KOER virtual power plant.

Manufacturer of glass packaging Vetropack Straža has joined the operation of the KOER virtual power plant, which will actively contribute to the stability of the Croatian power system. This cooperation is additional support for the system for connecting new capacities of renewable energy sources and the transition to more sustainable energy production and consumption.

"Vetropack Group decided to make an additional contribution to sustainability by joining the KOER virtual power plant. At Vetropack Straža, we produce 1GWh of electricity per year from two solar power plants installed on the roofs of the finished goods warehouse, which we use in the production of compressed air. We have made the flexibility of the production process available to maintain the balance of the electric power system in Croatia, and thus at the same time support the green transition of the Croatian economy towards a more sustainable energy system," said Mario Berc, Vetropack Technical Director.

KOER specializes in innovative energy solutions and has developed the infrastructure of the first virtual power plant in Croatia. With its launch, it also became the first aggregator and connects the electricity market with end users who are part of the virtual power plant.

"The KOER virtual power plant opens up opportunities for multiple benefits - it gives end users the opportunity to become active participants in the electricity market and thereby generate additional income, and provides auxiliary services to the Croatian transmission system operator with the aim of optimal management and balancing of the power system," said Marko Lasić, Director of KOER.
