Vidrala commits to 12MW renewable power installation at Caudete plant

Vidrala is building a solar photovoltaic power generation plant that will be used for consumption in the industrial process, partially substituting fossil and electrical energy from the grid.

The facility will be located at the Crisnova plant in Caudete, Castilla La Mancha, and will have a capacity of 12MW using cutting-edge ground-based technology.

The project is part of the company's sustainability and energy efficiency strategy and is a clear demonstration of its commitment to the environment and to the communities where the group operates.

Engineering, technical and economic viability work, urban planning, administrative and environmental procedures, as well as the engineering project were carried out by Vidrala under the guidance of Norvento Enerxía.

Construction has started, with Norvento as project manager and Grupotec in the installation and commissioning of the project, which will avoid the emission of about 9,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere per year.

This initiative is part of the ambitious investment plan launched by the Vidrala Group and is part of the multi-year green agenda focused on improving the sustainability of the glass container production process.

The project, which began to be analysed last year, is a reflection of the commitment to climate change and aims to reduce the company's environmental impact.

This will not be the first time that the Vidrala Group has implemented this type of technology to supply its facilities with green energy; it already did so in 2018 in Portugal after installing a solar plant at its logistics facilities in Marinha Grande.
