Chris Sorsby has been appointed Managing Director at VitriTech, the Rotherham based specialty glass melting business that currently manufactures products for the oil and gas, tunnelling, medical, and marine markets.

VitriTech develops and manufactures specialty glass products by exploiting the exceptional properties of glass, far beyond its traditional perceptions. The company’s products are designed to deliver bespoke solutions to a wide range of problems where controlled chemical or biological reactions are required in difficult to reach locations, from deep underground to the inside of the human body.

The company is actively developing technology, in partnership with Glass Technology Services, to reinforce or seal mineral structures in the oil drilling, construction and tunnelling industries along with products to coat marine transportation to reduce drag and improve energy efficiency. Glass Technology Services develops glass products to solve technical issues, and provides exclusive R&D resources which allows VitriTech to respond quickly and efficiently to the changing demands of customers and markets.
