Furnace heat-up nears completion in Chile

Francisco Ruiz, General Manager at Cristalerías Toro Spa has confirmed heat-up is underway for the container specialist’s latest Maipú furnace, with first bottles expected by early March.

The new furnace has a capacity of 300 tons/day, uses electrical energy from 100% renewable sources and will produce bottles with more than 60% recycled glass.

According to Francisco Ruiz, it has been a tremendous challenge to meet the dates originally set, since the travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic have demanded the ability to co-ordinate the different specialties and have everything ready to start furnace operation.
