Strategic partnership between AGC Glass Europe and Masterframe

Strategic partnership between AGC Glass Europe and Masterframe

AGC Glass Europe and Masterframe have formed a strategic partnership to bring FINEO vacuum insulating glazing for PVC-U sash windows to the UK market.

High-performance glazing plays a vital role in bringing warmth and comfort to homes.

This can now be achieved with vacuum insulating glass (VIG) installed in new sash windows. With FINEO vacuum insulating glazing, AGC Glass Europe has embraced this innovative technology.

Ultra-slim glazing (10mm total thickness) achieves unrivalled thermal and acoustic performances, along with better light transmission. Masterframe is a recognised sash windows specialist in the UK.

Together they will launch a FINEO sash window, which will be exclusively offered to the UK market.

North-West selected for hydrogen revolution following government decision

Encirc is set to lead the glass container industry's journey to net zero following a decision to bring hydrogen to the North West via the HyNet project.

The transformational low carbon and hydrogen energy scheme has been moved to ‘track one’ status by the UK Government. Of the six regional bids, HyNet and the Teesside-based East Coast Clusters schemes were chosen, meaning these projects are in line for a slice of a £1billion fund and can start decarbonising in their regions as early as 2025.

New Colombian Cullet Hub Will Increase O-I’s Cullet Supplies

New Colombian Cullet Hub Will Increase O-I’s Cullet Supplies

O-I is opening a new recycling hub for cullet suppliers in Barranquilla, Colombia. The hub serves as a material collection centre where the company buys cullet from suppliers in the local area, in this case, the Atlantic Coast, which is more than 550 miles from the O-I plant.

O-I is partnering with Ekored for the hub. The facility will leverage cullet recovery with Ekored’s PET chain in the northern coastal area of Colombia.

The cullet hub, located in the same business centre as the PET and scrap recycling centres, conveniently allows recycling suppliers to carry all three materials in the same truck.

Saint-Gobain Installs Water Recycling Technology at its Kansas City Insulation Plant

Saint-Gobain Installs Water Recycling Technology at its Kansas City Insulation Plant

Saint-Gobain, through its building products subsidiary CertainTeed, has completed the installation of water recycling technology at its Kansas City insulation plant, which will reduce the plant’s consumption of water by 227 million gallons per year.

The CertainTeed plant in Kansas City is the largest insulation manufacturing site in the world and began operations in 1951. The plant uses water to help cool equipment and molten glass.

The technology installed this month will allow the plant to capture and reuse the vast majority of water used on its K11 and K12 production lines.

Previously, this water would otherwise travel into the plant’s sewer drains.

O-I Glass Reports Strong Third Quarter 2021 Results

Andres Lopez, CEO of O-I

We are pleased with O-I’s third quarter business performance. Once again, we delivered on our commitments as performance exceeded the company’s guidance range, despite a number of macro challenges. Demand for glass containers remains strong, yet shipments were down slightly due to choppy demand patterns, mix management and ongoing supply chain disruptions. On the other hand, higher average selling prices fully offset escalating cost inflation, and earnings benefited from continued solid operating and cost performance supported by the company’s Margin Expansion initiatives,” said Andres Lopez, CEO of O-I.
