The British Glass are holding the Glass Focus Awards in-person on 18 November 2021 in Manchester.

The winners of the Formes de Luxe Award 2021 were announced on September 28 during Luxe Pack Monaco. Perfume Gun, a unique collection of home fragrance guns, was honoured as the Jury’s favourite. Frédéric Malle designed a perfume gun, whose shape is a mix of functionality, innovation and humour.

Stoelzle Masnières Parfumerie is proud of its first collaboration with the Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle teams.

It was the first bottle treated with the innovative powder coating technique Quali Glass Coat 2.0, which was now rewarded by the Formes de Luxe jury.

Applied to amber bottles, commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry, the 40µm powder coating gives a perfectly smooth surface with a beautiful high-end matt finish.

Guardian Glass is investing significantly in its Goole, East Yorkshire float glass production plant to increase the company’s ability to supply float glass, primarily to the UK and Ireland, while also improving the plant’s energy efficiency.

The cold tank repair, which began in April and will be completed this month, will rebuild the furnace with one of the most advanced technologies available, and expand the melting capacity by 20% to 825 tonnes per day.

Gerresheimer's website is now also available in Chinese reflecting significant growth in demand for innovative and sustainable packaging solutions and drug delivery devices.

With six production sites in China, the company wants to make it easier for its Chinese customers to access information.

O-I Glass has unveiled plans for global investments of up to $680 million that could add 700,000 tons of extra glass packaging capacity.

The company plans to focus on expanding premium products in its franchise-leading position in Latin America and high value spirits in the US and UK.

Our investment in the innovative MAGMA solution represents a major leap that will accelerate O-I’s transformation,” said Andres Lopez, CEO of O-I Glass. 

Saudi-based C-glass fibre manufacturer AFICO called upon their original furnace builder, SORG, to rebuild their 38m² S-Melter.

Through the great working relationship and considerate collaboration the rebuild was managed and delivered on time and in full despite the COVID-19 restrictions.

A spokesperson for SORG said, “The quarantine was a huge challenge because travel restrictions changed daily but we managed to complete the project (glass-to-glass) ahead of time – one day before the initially planned commissioning date.”

“In cooperation with AFICO and our specialists, the condition of the system was checked at regular intervals and steps were considered to keep the system alive until entry was possible again.”

The Absolut Movement special edition bottle, manufactured by Ardagh Glass Packaging, was the outright winner in the Best Bottle in Glass category at the 2021 World Beverage Innovation Awards, scoring top place by all nine judges for its ‘Dynamic, stylish design, aiming to highlight important themes’.

Based on an original concept by Frankenstein Design, the frosted blue glass bottle features an upward spiral design of 16 swirls, which symbolise people coming together in the spirit of inclusivity and collective progression.

NSG Group has collaborated with product design studio Cohda to create futuristic glass applications that deliver power to devices without the need for wires.

The glass manufacturer will supply its NSG TEC electrically conductive glass to combine the product with Cohda’s Power-Tap (P-Tap) wireless power technology.

P-Tap technology allows electricity or data to be transferred wirelessly through a transparent conductive coating to power any device.

This allows glass to act as a wire, transferring power out through contact alone. Mains electricity typically flows into the glass via a connection at the perimeter of the glass surface.
