Photovoltaic solar park implemented in Portugal

Vidrala has completed a bespoke project designed by Endesa for the installation of a photovoltaic solar park at its Vidrala Logistics facilities in Marinha Grande, Portugal. Construction and operation of the photovoltaic park includes 792 high performance modules with a total power of 222 kilowatts (kWp) on the roof of the warehouse, to generate 376 megawatts per year.

This energy production is perfectly aligned with the total consumption of Vidrala Logistics.

Prominent UK politician joins Ardagh Board

Following the death of Ardagh Group Director, Wolfgang Baertz last September, the Rt Hon Philip Hammond has been appointed to the Board as a Non-executive Director and as a member of the Audit Committee.

A member of Parliament from 1997 to 2019, Mr Hammond held a range of ministerial offices, most recently serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2016 to 2019. Prior to this, he served as Foreign Secretary (2014-2016), Defence Secretary (2011- 2014) and Transport Secretary (2010-2011).

Dutch flat glass transformation business ownership change

Saint-Gobain has sold its regional glass transformation business in the Netherlands to Munich-based AEQUITA. Glassolutions employs approximately 300 people and comprises eight distribution and four production sites, generating revenues of some €65 million in 2018. The company specialises in the processing, transformation and distribution of different glass types for the local construction sector. Processing work undertaken includes cutting, washing, tempering, and lacquering of flat glass for interior use, insulated glazing, mirrors, heated glass and facades etc.

Corporate social responsibility recognition

Verescence has been awarded a Gold level for the second consecutive year by rating agency EcoVadis, which specialises in the evaluation of corporate social responsibility (CSR). EcoVadis confirmed Verescence’s Gold status and highlighted its progress in terms of social and environmental responsibility by awarding it a score of 77/100, an increase of six points. Therefore, the group ranks among the top 1% of global companies with the most advanced CSR approaches, according to the EcoVadis ranking.

App identifies non-compliances in pharmaceutical glassware

SGD Pharma has launched the first App to identify non-compliances in moulded glass bottles intended for the pharmaceutical industry. Resulting from a development project between SGD Pharma Quality and Marketing Departments, this digital tool makes it possible to identify non-compliances that may be discovered during an incoming inspection or during on-line inspection at the client's side.
