How large is the product carbon footprint (PCF) of a bottle? How many greenhouse gases are generated in association with this container along the value chain? While other manufacturers can only give rough estimates, Heinz-Glas can rapidly give the exact information: calculated down to the gramme. In order to be able to do this, the company developed a PCF tool. Independent verification by TÜV SÜD has established confidence by verifying compliance with DIN EN ISO 14067:2019 requirements.

Glaston has received an order for heat treatment equipment, a HTBS line for bending and tempering and a RC Series line from the Turkish OEM customer DORAGLASS. The orders will be delivered in Q4/2023.

Stoelzle Glass Group has announced the opening of a decoration facility at Stoelzle Glass USA. The site offers screen-printing to customers in the USA with options including ceramic colours, precious metals, organic and UV colours, printing around corners and in 360° motions, as well as more services. The machinery is equipped with a fully automatic control camera system and will allow for annual capacity of up to 20 million bottles.

Saint-Gobain Glass has announced the creation of Calumen Suite, its new suite of digital services, and launches the first online tool in this suite, new Calumen. This replaces the current CalumenLive service and is a brand-new glazing configurator designed for all building professionals, whatever their level of expertise in glass products: architects, designers, engineering offices, consultants, façade makers, window manufacturers, glass processors and general contractors.

Pradeep Kumar Kheruka of Borosil is a leader who holds steadfast to the dreams of a better India. His entrepreneurial journey began at the age of 17 and involves many ‘firsts’ and ground-breaking products in the glass industry. His family started Window Glass Ltd, by the time he turned 25, he decided to focus on the export market and the company soon became the largest Indian glass exporter.

Zippe has installed and commissioned a new batch plant with a batch and cullet conveying system to the new furnace was installed at PT Culletprima Setia, Indonesia. The project was realized at the peak of the Corona pandemic. Nevertheless, together with the customer, all challenges were solved in a very flexible and collaborative partnership leading to project success.

The new plant was built next to existing production and feeds a new furnace for tableware with a capacity of 130tpd and a cullet ratio of 30%. In addition to the batch plant, Zippe also supplied a new scraping conveyor as well as a crusher for the cullet plant.

Commissioning was completed recently, and the plant has been operating flawlessly since.

The Indian state of Telangana has announced a future collaboration between SGD Pharma and Corning to bring state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing expertise to the region. This venture will combine Corning’s high-quality pharmaceutical tubing technology with SGD Pharma’s glass vial manufacturing and converting expertise securing primary packaging for Indian and international customers.

The SORG Group is supplying two regenerative end-fired furnaces with forehearths, the batch handling at the furnaces, and a complete service package, forming the heart of the greenfield project in Boffalora sopra Ticino, Italy.

Nikolaus SORG planned and supplied the melting furnace which were intensively modelled in detail with Vetropack, as well as the glass conditioning systems and all necessary equipment. The furnaces are planned to have a high amount of electric boosting, which can be further increased at a later point in time. The two doghouses per furnace are sealed against gas and dust by using EME-NEND R2 batch charging machines.
