Drax delivers 100% renewable Scottish hydro power for Allied Glass

Drax delivers 100% renewable Scottish hydro power for Allied Glass

Allied Glass have agreed the supply of 66GWh/year of 100% renewable electricity from Drax from one of the Scottish run of river hydro-electric stations.

The Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) allows Allied to use hydro-backed Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin (REGO) certificates to support its carbon reduction goals, linked to the generation at the Galloway hydro scheme.

The CPPA means that Allied Glass can state with authority where their energy is sourced from and will help the business to further reduce its carbon emissions – already down by more than 10% since 2015.

Being able to attribute renewable power to a named generator can support organisations in their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals.

Wiegand-Glas start new furnace in Schleusingen

Wiegand-Glas start new furnace in Schleusingen

Furnace 2 at the Wiegand-Glas Schleusingen plant is now in operation. HORN started with the heat-up of the new end fired furnace in early March.

The new container glass furnace with three forehearths produces amber glass.

Despite the current extremely uncertain supply and cost situation on the energy market, management decided to start up the second furnace in the new glass plant in Thuringia.

A sign that Wiegand-Glas is convinced that the currently very difficult situation can be overcome.

HORN batch charger HVR 600F performs in test of conveyor capacity

HORN batch charger HVR 600F performs in test of conveyor capacity

HORN customer Bastürk Cam is building a 560 t/d end fired furnace with a melting surface of 185.4 m² in their plant in Malatya, Turkey.

The new furnace is designed with six forehearths for the production of container glass.

HORN´s scope of supply for this project includes two new HVR 600F batch chargers.

The HVR is a popular and reliable batch charger for glass plants and, as a true classic, the most successful batch charging machine on the market.

The two batch chargers were recently subjected to a test with regard to conveyor capacity.

Each batch charger must have a conveyor capacity of 700 tonnes per day, so that each machine itself can handle the entire capacity of the furnace.
