Gerresheimer plans to use sustainable technology for glass production

CO2 saving hybrid technology is proposed for the Gerresheimer Lohr white glass melting furnace rebuild in 2022. The company has submitted a funding application to the German Federal Ministry for the Environment for this innovative project.

"This pioneering technology project serves to strengthen Germany as an industrial and glass location. With this innovative technology we will set new standards in terms of sustainability and avoidance of emissions," said Andreas Kohl, who as Global Senior Vice President Operations is responsible for worldwide container glass production and its technical development in the Gerresheimer Group.

Vetrerie Riunite acquires important Chinese competitor

The Vetrerie Riunite of Colognola ai Colli, the leading manufacturer of technical glass for household appliances, with the help of investment bank SIMEST has acquired Suizhong Minghui Industrial Technology Ltd, an important competitor operating on the Chinese market for washing machine portholes, strengthening its presence on the Asian market.

The integration of the Asian competitor will allow Vetrerie Riunite to add further market share, going from the current 40% to over 50%.

Foamit Group bids for Norway’s Glasopor

Foamit Group Oy has signed an agreement to wholly acquire the Norwegian foam glass manufacturing company Glasopor AS.

The seller is Sirkel Materialgjenvinning AS. The acquisition is in line with Foamit Group’s growth strategy, and it will strengthen the Group’s position as the main manufacturer of foam glass in the Nordic countries and one of the largest worldwide players in the industry.

After the transaction, the Foamit Group will operate in Norway in addition to Finland, Sweden and Denmark.

The Foamit Group’s largest owners are Partnera (63%) and Finnish Industry Investment Ltd (32%).

Pip & Nut switch whole range from plastic to glass packaging

Nut butter specialist Pip & Nut have transitioned their whole range of nut butters from plastic to embossed glass jars from Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP) following consistent feedback from the company’s active consumer community.

The brand is now furthering their promise to setting science-based targets in 2021 to reduce their carbon emissions and align to net zero by 2030.

Founder, Pip Murray, explains why they made the change: “We’re always striving to improve on how we can make our products better for the planet. With the move to glass jars, we’ve improved the recyclability of our products as glass is more widely recycled in the UK than plastic.”

Konstantin Petrov appointed Glaston Sales and Service Director, Australia & New Zealand

Konstantin “Konsta” Petrov has taken the helm as Sales and Service Director of Glaston’s Australian Branch Office.

He replaces David Charnock, who celebrated 50 great years in the glass industry and will retire at the end of this year.

Mr Petrov began his career in 1996 as a senior operator and later as a chief technologist at glass processing factories in Moscow, Russia.

In 2001, he joined the Moscow Tamglass Maintenance Service unit to work as a Service Engineer, and later, as a Service Manager for LLC Tamglass-Bavelloni. He moved to Singapore from 2006 to 2009 to manage after sales in the Asia Pacific market.

Gerresheimer extends CFO contract

The Supervisory Board of Gerresheimer AG has extended the contract of Chief Financial Officer Dr. Bernd Metzner by a further five years until May 2027.

The move is a strong sign of continuity and reliability on the Management Board of Mr Dietmar Siemssen, Dr. Metzner and Dr. Lukas Burkhardt.

Dr. Metzner has already been Chief Financial Officer of Gerresheimer AG since May 2019. His contract runs until May 2027, meaning that all three Management Board members have now extended their contracts by five years.
