Şişecam glass preferred for the Istanbul tower

Şişecam’s products were preferred in the Ilbank Atasehir Tower project in Istanbul.

The project designed by Öncüoğlu Architecture + ACP is one of the reference projects brought to life with the innovative products that pioneers many firsts in the field of flat glass and showcases the development of the flat glass industry in Turkey and the region.

The optimum light transmittance, heat insulation and solar control requested in the project are provided by a single coating that is Şişecam Temperable Solar Control Low-E Glass Neutral 50/33.

Ilbank’s Istanbul office building was designed on an area of 4,260m2 next to its regional directorate building.

Saint-Gobain Glass Germany plans for 2030 carbon neutral production

Hendrik Wüst, Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia, and Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, Minister of Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalisation and Energy, recently visited the Saint-Gobain site in Herzogenrath. They learned about the planned project for CO2-neutral production by 2030 on the site and, in this context, presented Saint-Gobain Glass Germany and Saint-Gobain Sekurit Germany with around €1.9 million in funding for the preparatory R&D project "COSIMa, CO2-neutral Saint-Gobain industrial location Herzogenrath – feasibility studies."

Ammonia combustion technology development project including AGC selected by NEDO

AGC has been selected by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) as a contractor for the project: "Development of Fuel Ammonia Combustion Technology for Industrial Furnaces".

The company will develop this project jointly with Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), and Tohoku University from the end of December 2021 to March 2026.

The project focuses on ammonia, which does not produce CO2 when burned, is already widely distributed as a fertilizer, industrial raw material and has the same transportability as propane.

Ardagh Group awarded gold rating again from EcoVadis

Ardagh Group awarded gold rating again from EcoVadis

EcoVadis gold, one of the highest ratings and the sixth for Ardagh, has been awarded to the Group in recognition of it’s responsible and sustainable practices.

Scoring in the 97th percentile, the rating reflects the quality of Ardagh’s sustainability management systems.

Gold is only achieved by the top 5% of companies assessed by EcoVadis and Ardagh’s rating comes with an improved score of 71, up from 67 in 2020.

The rating demonstrates the dedication to implement the Group’s sustainability strategy, launched in 2020.

The new strategy, which reinforces a commitment to the circular economy, is underpinned by three pillars of emissions, ecology and social.

The strategy also maps out ambitious commitments and targets for the coming decade.

Better than expected performance of Forglass furnace for Stoelzle Masnieres Parfumerie

The successfully completed final acceptance test of the furnace erected by Forglass in France confirmed that the parameters of its operation significantly exceeded expectations in terms of glass quality and energy consumption.

Stoelzle Masnieres Parfumerie is well known for its extra white flint glass packaging for the premium perfumery and cosmetic market and they set the bar high from the very beginning.

Working within a limited space, Forglass engineers had to increase the pull by 50%, guarantee high quality cosmetic glass and reduce energy consumption, thus reducing the carbon impact on the environment.

AGC has become a sponsor of the International Year of Glass 2022, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly.

As a Diamond Sponsor, AGC will donate a total of approximately 13 million yen in operating funds to support the various events being held around the world as part of the International Year of Glass 2022.

The United Nations has declared an "International Year" every year since 1959 to disseminate and promote specific fields of international endeavour and their contributions to global society.

Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP) will celebrate the United Nations International Year of Glass throughout 2022, commemorating the essential role of glass packaging in a sustainable society.

The International Commission on Glass, the Community of Glass Associations and ICOM-Glass are promoting 2022 as the United Nations International Year of Glass (IYOG) to underline the scientific, economic and cultural importance of glass in all its forms in our everyday lives.

The year-long celebration will result in a range of events across the world, including fairs and exhibitions, seminars and social media campaigns, to inform and educate communities everywhere of the rich history that glass has and its enormous beneficial contributions.

Joint GlassTrend–IYOG 2022 events

The GlassTrend Board and the Organizing Committee of the International Year of Glass 2022 have announced a cooperation to offer a joint GlassTrend–IYOG 2022 series of events.

These will illustrate how the United Nations Development Goals (UNDGs) are supported by glass. It is a wonderful example of international cooperation covering UNDG-17 ‘Partnerships for the goals’.

The upcoming agenda includes:

18 January at 13.00 CET: The first event of the series will be a webinar where Dr. Hong Li from NEG will present a talk on ‘The chemical approach to ultra-high-modulus fiberglass’ that is linked to the UNDG Affordable & Clean Energy.
